“They’re really taking a stand and saying drinking less is always better. That’s the right message and I think they deserve credit for making that change.”

For so many years, the government implied stating evidence showed moderate drinking could lower the risk of heart disease and reduce mortality. Now, that may not be the case. 

The final stance has not yet been made official, but is under much consideration. Many studies are still being conducted for further investigation, even genetic data gathering. 

One study came to the conclusion, “This suggests that reduction of alcohol consumption, even for light to moderate drinkers, is beneficial for cardiovascular health.”
